Lots of sunshine, swimming and watermelon- it must be summertime! I love summer, not only because I get to celebrate my birthday and my son’s birthday, but because July marks the halfway point in the year.

It’s a natural time to look back and reflect on personal life or business.

At the beginning of each year, I take a blank piece of paper and sketch out goals for the year. I call it my Goals Map and you can see a snapshot of it here. Then about halfway through, either July or August, I check it to see what can get crossed off the list and what ‘s left to conquer.

My goals map is split up into three sections: Life, Business and Family.
Then under each section I make between 8-10 checkboxes of mini goals.(One thing to note though, I never expect to complete everything. I’m not superhuman!)

But, I like having things to look forward to and remember. If they get done- awesome! If not, then there is next year- right?

Up until now, I haven’t checked my Goals Map. It’s not something I hang up and look at everyday. I’m not motived by super long lists. I think if I did that, it would feel like way too much pressure. But if you want to, hang it in a place that is best for you! In the back of my head I know my dreams and if I need a reminder I know exactly where I keep my Goal Map.

This month I’m really looking forward to a bunch of speaking engagements and fun networking opportunities coming up. There’s also some travel just around the corner, including a trip to the World Domination Summit and I just love meeting new inspirational people!

So how is this year measuring up? Lets take a look:

Personal Life
I’m going to give myself a 8/10. I should spend some more time at home and with my better half, just the two of us. But, with a little man and busy schedules that sometimes get pushed to the side. For the next six months I’m going to try and plan on date night a month.

Business Life:
My goal was to do four speaking engagements and make $1000 from my business. So far I’ve made about $200 and have totally killed it in the speaking circuit if I do say so myself, with six to date. Who hoo!  Now I’m also volunteering with the local CRAVE women’s entrepreneurial group too so this section gets a 9/10.

Healthy Life:
I get to the gym around once a week but enjoy my wine from time to time. But, last week I wore my two piece bathing suit for the first time since having my son, so that’s a step in the right direction- right? Heath and Wellness is only getting a 7/10. I plan to make more juices and get to the gym more often. Lets do this!

What’s In Store?

So, it’s been a super packed half of the year and there’s tons more coming in the home stretch. Here are some things I *hope* to do over the next few months.

August

  • CRAVE Chat: August event
  • Spredfast Webinar on Social Engagement
  • Instagram Workshop at Posh Coworking
  • San Antonio Chamber of Commerce session on Social Media:102

September

  • Accountability Circle Fall 2013
  • CRAVE Chat: September event

October

November

  • BrandCamp comes to Austin
  • Disney Leadership Course
  • Virtual Blogathon for NoBlogPoMo
  • CRAVE Chat: November event

December

There’s also a writing class my friend Sara teaches I’ve been meaning to join and this Brandgasm class by Ash Ambridge and Nicole Antoinette on copywriting that looks AMAZING. Plus, I promised myself I’d get my newsletter back off the ground or some form of regular email to readers thanks to motivation from a new friend, the lovely Erin at Pixology.

Oh! And I almost forgot I’d like to host an all-day brainstorming/collaboration session with some of my mom entrepreneur friends here in Austin to see how we can help each other reach business goals. If I have learned anything over the last six months, its that collaboration is key.

If you want to do something together shoot me a note!

How has your year been going? What are you looking forward to as we head into the final months of 2013?

Share with me, I’m eager to hear what everyone else is up to! And, if you ever need help crossing some of those tasks off your lists I’m always here to help, one-on-one or though The Accountability Circle.  Let’s work together and make it a great 2013.
