It’s natural over time to feel like you lose connections with the people around you, especially when you have kids. Life tends to turn you inwards, to the needs of others instead of yourself and connections just slip away. This month I’m hoping to rekindle some of those lost connections and really make the effort to keep existing relationships afloat.

March Happiness Project Focus: Connection

Happiness Project Theme

My goals for this month are to:

Strengthen Family Bonds
We just got married this past fall and our family all lives back up in New York. So this month I really want to do something special for my in-laws and best friends. Growing up my Aunt Kathie always sent us random greeting cards in the mail “just because”, so I think I’d like to do something similar.

Make A New Friend
I have never been one to have a ton of friends. Once you are my friend that’s it- we’re friends for life! But, I think it’s time to expand my circle and spend time with someone new. That’s all, just one friend is my goal for this month. A new mom moved into the neighborhood and she also has an Etsy shop, so it’s perfect! Now, she may not want to be friends with me... but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Reconnect
I knew a girl once who had a goal to meet 52 new people over coffee in one year. Essentially, one person a week. While that is certainly a bold endeavor, I am aiming for something a bit more manageable now that I have two toddlers home with me. I’d like to connect with 10 people this month that I haven’t seen in a while. This is where Facebook comes in handy. I put out a “call for coffee dates” and already have some lined up. Now if I just could get myself to like coffee…

Something else new to try this month!

Attend Networking Events
UGH I used to go to SO MANY things when I had an actual job. It was fun to meet people in different areas of work and enjoy drinks on a rooftop patio. How very cosmopolitan.
I had kids and somehow became a hermit, so the thought of leaving the house after 5 makes me cringe. It takes SO much effort. I literally have to plan my entire day around any sort of evening activity. This month I plan to find a morning event or two to attend and yes, also something also after 5 PM to get me out of my comfort zone and out of my home. I’ll even bring a friend!

Want to connect? Friend me on Facebook, follow either of my two Instagram accounts (@AndreaGenevieve and @ShopHelloSunday) or become professional besties on LinkedIn. My Twitter account is rarely used so I wouldn’t bother there. I may test out Snapchat this month too, so I’ll keep you posted how that works out!
