When I set out to redesign my former business BrandKit, I knew I wanted to bring my personality and style into the new business. I went back and forth a million times about what to call it, since it was a new direction and ultimately took some advice from some trusted friends and settled on my name: Andrea Genevieve.
Some background on why I chose that name. When I was little I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. While I currently do write, it’s not often enough and I haven’t written a book…. yet. (But it’s a life long dream of mine and will happen someday, I just know it! Gotta carve out some more me time to make that dream come to life.) So in honor of my great great grandmother Mary Genevieve, whom I was named after, I promised my mom when I was “older and famous” I would use Andrea Genevieve as my pen name. This is why you’ll see this name, my first and middle name, without a last name anytime I publish work. On every single social network (aside from MySpace) I am Andrea Genevieve and it’s become my personal brand over the last five years. While I knew it was going to be fun to develop a look for my personal brand, I knew that it would be hard to decide just the style and tone.
One of my absolute favorite clients recently redeveloped their wedding floral and events company website and recommended this fabulous duo from Colorado to redo my site. I did my fair share of research and have worked with many designers (hell I actually live with one!) and knew the ladies from October Ink would get the vibe I was going for with Andrea Genevieve.
Over the course of a few months (probably 6- 8 weeks) I pinned graphics from the web to a special Pinterest board just for inspiration from this project. I took screen shots of blogs and websites I was drawn to and eventually developed the framework for the website, wrote our my marketing message, web copy and created a tagline for Andrea Genevieve.
I’m not going to lie, my brand was so much harder than anything I’ve had to do in a long while, because it was all me! Who wants to talk about themselves?! Ugh super frustrating! A few times I did have to call on my Accountability Circle girls and trusted friends to get feedback, but when all is said and done, every single person close to me that has seen the finished product agree… it’s totally me! Yeay!!
So, without further ado, I am super excited to share the finalize brand board for Andrea Genevieve!
And my business cards:
Thank you October Ink for making this experience so enjoyable and fun. I love my color scheme, fonts and everything about my brand, especially the little pen icon! I’ve never had an icon before and this is just phenomenal.
Now I want to hear from you!
What do you think? Is it me?
